The Province is located on the southern part of the country sharing boundaries with Botswana and South Africa.

  • It poses as a gateway and corridor to most SADC economies and boasts of the busiest inland port of entry in Sub-Saharan Africa handling large volumes of traffic.
  • The Province has a population of 683 893 people and a total of 54 172 km2 .

OVERALL PROVINCIAL PROFILE

Midlands Province as the epicentre of the country located at the heart of Zimbabwe spreads over Surface Area 49 166km2 sharing boundaries with 6 Provinces except Manicaland, Mashonaland Central, Harare and Bulawayo.

Its total population of 1 614 941 million is made up of the Tonga, Ndebele, Karanga, Venda and Suthu spread over Gokwe North, Gokwe South, Kwekwe, Gweru, Chirumanzu, Shurugwi, Zvishavane and Mberengwa Districts. As the most urbanized province it boasts of six towns namely Gweru the provincial capital, Kwekwe, Shurugwi, Zvishavane, Gokwe Centre and Mvuma.
